777CachedMy wife and I travelled with Quatar for the first time between London Heathrow and Doha, the first and longest leg of our journey to India.
  1. Qatar Airways Boeing 777. A world of comfort. Our Boeing 777 cabin is spacious, with high ceilings and an abundance of natural light. Our comfortable seats, delectable dining options and award-winning.
  2. The 777X is Boeing's newest family of twin-aisle airplanes that builds on the passenger-preferred and market-leading 777 and 787 families. The Boeing 777X will deliver unmatched performance, exceptional profitability and industry leading reliability. The family includes the 777-8X and the 777-9X - both designed to respond to market needs and customer preferences.
  3. 'Qatar Airways continues to implement a bold vision to be the world's leading air cargo carrier and we are thrilled that they have again chosen to build that future with the Boeing 777 Freighter. It is a great testament to the airplane's unmatched capabilities,' said Kevin McAllister, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

In November 2013, with orders and commitments totaling 259 aircraft from Lufthansa, Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Etihad Airways, Boeing formally launched the 777X program, the third generation of the 777 (not to be confused with the 777-X variants, which were the second generation of the aircraft), with two models: the 777-8 and 777-9. Qatar Airways is operating the Boeing 777-300ER on a variety of long-haul destinations. There are three versions of the B777-300ER, both with only two classes of service where all Business Class seats feature 180 degree recline. For this Version, Business Class is found from rows 1 to 7 and Economy Class begins at row 10, ending at row 43.

I was generally happy with the flight experience and on the whole found the cabin crew to be helpful, courteous, very well presented and professional. Unfortunately I discovered shortly after take off that the entertainment unit for my seat position was not functioning. I brought this to the attention of members of the crew on two or three occasions, trying hard not to do so when crew were distributing meals and drinks. My wife also mentioned the issue on my behalf to crew one time further. I believe on each occasion crew undertook to reset the unit remotely which I'm sure they did however they did not return to check that the reset was successful which of course it was not. I anticipate that operation of the unit was not identified during checks in between flights otherwise crew would have been aware and reassigned the seat (there seemed to be plenty vacant) or at least have mentioned the shortcoming, I would have thought. In the end I figured that the crew were unable to deal with the issue, however I think you'll agree that someone should have come back to explain, and by current standards, this is a long journey to be without entertainment. I am sure that for an airline such as Quatar this can only be an unfortunate blip in an otherwise very classy operation. Note that my wife disagrees, her view being that the crew did not seem as available throughout the flight as she experienced on a long haul flight with another top carrier earlier this year. We are returning to the UK on 10th December and I hope the flight will be memorable for the excellent service rather than any problems and that I'll be in a position to award 5 stars for service and entertainment as well as the other categories. Qatar Airways Cargo took delivery of three Boeing 777 Freighters as the airline continues to build its cargo division.

The milestone also marks the 200th 777 Freighter to be delivered.

The triple delivery comes as air freight is playing a pivotal role amid the COVID-19 pandemic – including transporting newly approved vaccines – and is projected to increase more than 4% over the next two decades.
